The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a Senior Section Engineer (SSE), Western Railway, Surat for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs. 5000/- from the complainant.
A case was registered against the accused on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs. 10,000/- from the complainant towards lifting of scrap material lying in the railway’s premises, which was purchased by the complainant through an e-auction. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting the bribe of Rs. 5000/- from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Varaccha & Surat (Gujarat) which led to recovery of Rs. 10 lakh in cash and incriminating documents.
The accused was produced today before the Competent Court at Ahmedabad and remanded to 14 days Judicial Custody.
