Southwest Monsoon further advances—- Conditions are likely to become favourable for onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala around 31st May 2021

According to the National Weather Forecasting Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD):

♦          Southwest Monsoon has further advanced into some more parts of Maldives-Comorin area, Southwest &Eastcentral Bay of Bengal, most parts of Southeast Bay of Bengal and some parts of Westcentral Bay of Bengal today the 27th May morning.

♦          Conditions are likely to become favourable for onset of Southwest Monsoon over Kerala around 31st May 2021.

♦The Deep Depression over south Jharkhand and neighborhood moved nearly northwards with a speed of about 05 kmph during past 6 hours and lay centred at 0830 hrs IST of today, the 27th May, 2021 over south Jharkhand and neighbourhood, near latitude 22.9°N and longitude 85.5°E, about 70km west-northwest of Jamshedpur and 65 km southeast of Ranchi (Jharkhand). The system is very likely to move nearly northwards and weaken into a Depression during next 03 hours.

Under its influence:

(i) Rainfall Warning: isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall with extremely heavy falls likely over Bihar on 27th; heavy to very heavy rainfall over Jharkhand, West Bengal& Sikkim on 27th; over East Uttar Pradesh on 27th & 28th and over Bihar on 28th and heavy rainfall likely over Odisha and Chhattisgarh on 27th May.

♦ Thunderstorm with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal and Andaman & Nicobar Islands; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over East Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Telangana and with lightning at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan & Goa, Coastal & South Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry &Karaikal, Kerala &Mahe and Lakshadweep.

♦ Dust raising winds very likely at isolated places over West Rajasthan.

♦            Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall with Extremely Heavy Falls at isolated places very likely over Bihar; Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal & Sikkim and Heavy Rainfall at isolated places over north Chhattisgarh, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry &Karaikal and Kerala &Mahe.

♦            Squally Weather (wind speed 40-50 kmph) very likely to prevail over Southwest, Westcentral& Northwest Arabian Sea and over Southwest, Westcentral& Northwest Bay of Bengal, Gulf of Mannar and Comorin Area and along & off Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Lakshadweep coasts. Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.

 

28 May (Day 2):

♦ Thunderstorm with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar  Islands;  with  lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Bihar, Jharkhand, Telangana and with lightning at isolated places over West Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Konkan & Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Kerala &Mahe and Lakshadweep.

♦ Thunderstorm/Duststorm (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) likely at isolated places over West Rajasthan.
