Schemes being implemented for skill development of the youth during the last three years

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) is implementing Pradhan MantriKaushalVikasYojana (PMKVY), Scheme of Jan ShikshanSansthan (JSS) for Skill Development and National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) across the country including State of MaharashtraUnder Skill India Mission.

Under PMKVY 2.0, since inception, 1.07 Cr. candidates have been trained /oriented across the country. Funds amounting to Rs. 7,279 Cr. (approx.) has been released, till Feb’2021, to implementing agencies. There is a provision of State-wise funds allocation under Centrally Sponsored State Managed ( CSSM ) component of the PMKVY 2.0. Further, Under PMKVY 3.0, launched on 15th January, 2021, the demand driven short duration skill development training is being imparted at district level across the country. Till now, approx. 19.79 Cr has been released under CSSM-PMKVY 3.0.

The scheme of Jan ShikshanSansthan (JSS) is being implemented through its institutional framework in the country with the objective to improve the occupational skills and technical knowledge of the non/neo literate. This scheme is central sector scheme and funds allocation is done directly to JSSs and no funds are released to State Government.

Further, government launched the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS) which makes special efforts to reach maximum number of establishments including MSMEs with an objective of the scheme is to promote apprenticeship training and to increase the engagement of apprentices.

The State-wise details of funds disbursed under CSSM-PMKVY 2.0 and NAPS is given at Annexure.

Under CSSM component of PMKVY 2.0, a proposal had been received from Chhattisgarh State Skill Development Authority (CSSDA), Government of Chhattisgarh during FY 2016-17. After evaluation of proposal, Ministry has given in-principle approval of a total target of 48,532 candidates for FY 2016-20 with financial allocation of Rs. 71.16 Cr. which was further rationalized to Rs. 53.37 Cr. based on the performance of the State. Out of total allocation, funds amounting to Rs. 35.57 Cr. have been released so far to State of Chhattisgarh.

Under CSSM-PMKVY 2.0, as on 19.01.202, 13,752 candidates have been trained in the State of Chhattisgarh.This information was given by the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Raj Kumar Singh in a written reply in Rajya Sabha.
