Bangalore, November 15, 2021: In line with its unwavering commitment to contribute to Skill India mission, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM), today, announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Alliance University, a leading Private University in Bangalore, through its training arm – Toyota Learning and Development India. The initiative focuses on sharing Toyota’s best practices with the faculty, bridging the industry-academia gap and equipping the students with employable skills.

 

Talking about the collaboration, Mr. Abhay G. Chebbi, Pro-Chancellor of Alliance University, said, “This MoU marks the beginning of a long-term professional relationship with TKM. Through this partnership, students will be provided with a platform to get trained in contemporary technologies like electrification, Industry 4.0, and world-class manufacturing techniques, to name a few. Alliance University has been at the forefront of imparting holistic education over the last 25 years. With strengthened industry linkages, students can balance both theory and application, promoting industry readiness.”

 

“Alliance University is slated to launch programs across its new schools, and what will remain a common denominator is application-based learning, and the University will continue to collaborate with world-class organizations to help students experience the difference through well-crafted training programs designed jointly, enhancing industry-academia interface,” added Mr. Abhay

 

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Anubha Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Alliance University, said, “As we mark the start of celebrations of 25 years of Alliance Education, we are glad to sign an MoU with TKM and look forward to building a framework of a collaborative partnership for deeper engagement.” Dr. Singh spoke about the principle of Genchi Genbutsu, a key principle followed at Toyota, implying the importance of seeing things first-hand, which the partnership with TKM will facilitate for Alliance graduates.

 

Dr. Singh added that the partnership will aim to develop leadership attributes in the students through the Toyota Way; students and faculty will accumulate Chie – wisdom of experience and imbibe the values that include the mindset of continuous improvement (Kaizen); respect for people and their capabilities.”

 

 

Under the MoU, the program will focus on developing the faculty and students from Alliance University. Students will be trained based on a semester-wise skill enhancement plan, which includes topics like lean manufacturing principles, automobile technologies, industrial safety, environmental management system, total quality management, supply chain management, automobile welding, car painting, mechatronics, automation and robotics, electrification technologies etc. TKM trainers are certified by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), Japan and Asia-Pacific Global Production Center (AP-GPC), Thailand. Further, Toyota Master Class Series and Certificate Courses will also be available to the students to help them hone their skills.
