The Moscow Transportation Innovation Accelerator goes global: the 1st international edition offers worldwide mobility st

Moscow, Russia Sep 30, 2021 (Issuewire.com) – The Moscow Transportation Innovation Accelerator launches its first open call for international startups providing cutting-edge products and solutions for sustainable, safe, and accessible urban mobility. The first international edition of the Accelerator gives foreign startups unique access to the dynamically growing and innovation-driven market of the city of Moscow that generates more than 20% of Russia’s GDP. Ranked as Europe’s No. 1 City in startup ecosystem development (StartupBlink report 2021) Moscow offers a wide range of growth opportunities for international startup teams.

Applications are accepted until November 24st, 2021. Pre-selected applicants will be invited to a pitch round in front of the Accelerator’s management in Berlin. A jury of industry experts and representatives of leading transportation companies from the Moscow Public Transport network will select the most innovative teams. After the two-month programme, the most promising teams will implement their products and services in the individual infrastructure areas of the Russian capital’s transport network. TeleportLab, a Moscow-based networking platform and project partner of Moscow Transportation Innovation Accelerator will operate the selection process and supervision of the international teams.

In the past two years of the pandemic, the city of Moscow has pursued several ongoing and new lighthouse mobility projects such as expanding the MCD, Moscow’s new rail transit system, development of eco-transport, and launch of fully electric passenger ferries.

2020 has been a breakthrough year for Moscow’s mobility startup ecosystem despite the Covid-19 pandemic. The Accelerator, founded only a year ago, has processed over 500 applications within the three nationwide rounds. Over 50 teams have rolled out their pilot projects. Finding answers to the multiple challenges in the 12.5 mln megacity and unlocking post-crisis growth make the internationalization of mobility networks essential for Moscow’s innovation ecosystem.

“For the international teams, Moscow’s wide range and highly developed transport infrastructure provide numerous opportunities for scaling a tech startup both through a pilot project and forward-looking cooperation in the market”, explains Ivan Yunin, the Head of Moscow Transport Innovations Project.
