MSDE is enhancing the capabilities of trainers in vocational education under Mekong-Ganga Cooperation

 

Bangalore, January 23, 2024 Directorate General of Training (DGT) under Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) organized the Inaugural Ceremony on today, 22 Jan 2024 at 3.30 PM in National Skill Training Institute, Bengaluru for the 2 weeks Training of Trainers program on Mechatronic Systems. It envisages to facilitate the “exchange of experts from vocational training institutions and skill development authorities” under Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) to foster international cooperation in the realm of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and skill training between member countries and India.

Ms. TrishalJit Sethi, AS/DG, Directorate General of Training (DGT), Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) as Chief Guest, Ms. Paramita Tripathi, JS, Indo-Pacific region, Min. of External Affairs as Guest of Honour, sh. Anil Kumar, DDG(South Zone), DGT, MSDE and sh. Hemanth D Gangare, Joint Director, DGT, MSDE graced the event.

The Mekong-Ganga Cooperation (MGC) is an initiative by six countries for cooperation in tourism, culture, education, and transport and communications – India and five ASEAN countries, namely, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam. The initiative aims to strengthen the friendship, cooperation and better understanding among the member countries and upgrading the skillsets of the instructors in alignment with Industry 4.0 requirements prepares them for future of work.

As part of the Training of Trainers programme (ToT),the collaborative exchange of subject experts and educators from reputed Indian Institutes includes Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs), National Skill Training Institutes (NSTI), and enterprises like National Instructional Media Institute (NIMI), National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), with counterparts in other member countries  creates a conductive and collaborative learning environment that encourages academic and cultural exchange, promote innovation and knowledge-sharing. The training envisions to equip the trainers with the domain knowledge, skills and pedagogical techniques for imparting high quality training in the respective field.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. TrishalJit Sethi, Additional Secretary/ Director General, Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) welcomed all the 16 participants from CLMV countries and apprised them with top notch human resources of DGT Officials and infrastructure avilable at NSTI, Bengaluru like Mechatronics Labs and facilities related to Welding, Machining, Electrical etc.  DG also highlighted that Learning is a 2-way process and we are also going to learn CLMV’s rich experience. DG underlined that we are trying to realise the Imagination of our Honorable Prime Minister to make India the Skill capital of world. DG also Thanked MEA for this first time oppurtunity and hoped this to be continued with Ms. Paramita Tripathi, JS, MEA and wished the participants a great learning.

It is a two-week training program which has 16 participants, with 4 individuals from each of the CLMV countries (Cambodia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, and Vietnam). The program will be conducted in offline mode at NSTI Bengaluru from 22 Jan 2024 to 02 Feb 2024. Under the programme, trainers of levels like HOD/Sr. Lecturer/Lecturer /Instructor will receive specialized training in high-demand courses which will enable them to refine their teaching methodologies through on-the-job training and empower them to engage students more effectively.

The ministry aims to share best international practises, map the global skill requirements, benchmark Indian skilling standards, train our trainers as per global standards and enhance the capacity of existing institutes in skilling ecosystem.
