MAHE Bengaluru’s ED.AI Conclave Sparks Leadership Growth

Bengaluru, 20 March 2024: Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) Bengaluru hosted School Leaders’ Conclave 2024 – ED.AI recently at MAHE Bengaluru campus.  Over 60 school leaders and principals from diverse regions came together for the conclave, fostering opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing.

The topic of discussion at the event was using AI in education. The event united educators, and thought leaders from over 55 schools, all harnessing the power of artificial intelligence to shape and reimagine the future of education. Education leaders from all around India came together at the Manipal Academy of Higher Education in Bengaluru for the MAHE B’LRU ED.AI School Leaders Conclave with the goal of reimagining education in the AI era.

There were three distinctive sessions: Strategic Leadership in Times of Educational Transformation by Prof (Dr) Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice Chancellor, MAHE Bengaluru, Pro Vice Chancellor (MLHS), MAHE; Brainstorming Session on Future of Learning: Design Thinking in Education – Creating Student was led by Prof Dr Madhu Veeraraghavan, Pro Vice-Chancellor, MAHE Bengaluru, Pro Vice-Chancellor (MLHS), MAHE. Dr Karunakar A Kotegar, Director, International Relations, MAHE Manipal, Professor, Department of Data Science and Computer, Applications, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal delivered the keynote address.

Dr Karunakar in his keynote address said, “In order to get the most out of technology, we must embrace it. The focus of today’s conclave is artificial intelligence in education, and we must consider technology as an adjunct to human work. It’s critical to consider the value of teachers in the classroom as well as the ways in which artificial intelligence might enhance learning”.

Addressing the audience, Prof Dr Madhu Veeraraghavan, said, “The ED.AI Conclave is the intersection of education and AI as the role of technology is growing in shaping the future of students and also a game changer in the teaching methodologies. It is our great duty as leaders to mould the next generation through the creativity, building resilience and moral leadership. The Leadership Conclave provides a forum for motivating and enabling school administrators to successfully negotiate the challenges of education while exhibiting vision, morality, and teamwork. Together, let’s set out on a path of greatness and change that will influence education for future generations“.

Dr. Raghavendra Prabhu, Deputy Registrar, MAHE B’LRU said, “The Leadership Conclave is a turning point in the quest for academic achievement & has served as a great platform in exchanging innovative ideas on the need for embracing AI in education.  As a forward thinking academic Institute we advocate enhancing education & fostering collaboration through such conclaves, we come together to fan the flames of transformative leadership, encouraging school leaders to collaborate & innovative thus feel empowered”.

Prof. Dr. Madhu Veeraraghavan led workshops and masterclasses on artificial intelligence and education at the event. He discussed how artificial intelligence (AI) has evolved into a fundamental component of education and how schools must incorporate it. Professor Madhu gave insights into the Gurukula System, including its definition and how technology is being used to reinterpret age-old wisdom to make it more efficient and relevant today. He goes on to say that for colleges to further develop and prepare their students for the workforce, it is critical that students must be taught about the emerging technologies in the classroom. He also spoke about the necessity for educational institutions to provide curricula and programs that are relevant to the requirements and demands of business today. The fundamental abilities required by the industry in 2024 ought to be reflected in the courses.

Mayo College Ajmer, Good Shepherd International School, Suncity International School Gurgaon, The Scindia School, Vidyashilp Academy Bangalore, Board School Association of India, Modern Vidya Niketan, Hyderabad Public School, Seth Anandram Jaipuria Schools, The Emerald Heights International School, Birla Education Trust Pilani, DSR Educational Society Sai International School, Delhi Public School North and South, and Greenwood High Bangalore were among the prestigious schools that participated in the conclave.

Several schools have expressed keen interest in collaborating with MAHE Bengaluru to provide comprehensive career counselling and career assessments, tailored to the unique needs of their students.

The day ended with the guided campus tour for the attendees.
