Suspect vehicle identified
The Illinois State police reports they have identified the vehicle they think may have been involved in an Effingham County tanker truck crash that resulted in the deaths of five people.
The Sept. 29 crash involved a truck carrying a tanker full of anhydrous ammonia, which was punctured in the mishap. The dark-colored vehicle was captured on video traveling on U.S. 40 through nearby Montrose. It is unclear if the driver, who has not been named, will face any charges.
Fired coach sues Northwestern
Northwestern University has been slapped with a $130 million lawsuit by their former football coach. The lawsuit claims that Pat Fitzgerald was wrongfully and “illegally” terminated as head coach.
Fitzgerald was fired after an investigation into hazing allegations in the football program, even though it was determined that he did not play a role. His lawyers said the hazing allegations are exaggerated and that the anonymous whistleblower had a grudge against Fitzgerald.
Zuckerberg biolab unveiled
Details were unveiled on Thursday about the Chan Zuckerberg Biohub Chicago, a new biomedical research hub at the cutting edge of leading scientific study.
The project brings together three of Illinois’ leading scientific and technology institutions, the University of Chicago, University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and Northwestern University, to study human tissue with the goal of enabling new, groundbreaking therapeutics.
