Slain officer’s bodycam footage played for jury

It was an emotional day in court for the family of slain Chicago police officer Ella French, as prosecutors played graphic police bodycam video of her murder.

On trial facing first-degree murder charges is 23-year-old Emonte Morgan. In attendance was former officer Carolos Yanez, who along with French was shot during the attack and nearly lost his life.

Public TV station audit shows lost funds

An audit shows Peoria’s public television station WTVP lost nearly $870,000 during the last fiscal year. The station has been embroiled in controversy since September, following the resignation and subsequent death of former president and CEO Lesley Matuszak.

The station has since revealed that Matuszak and the former finance director approved “improper, unauthorized or questionable” spending that led to the current financial situation.
