Global Mental Health Leader Dr. Kathy Pike to Serve as Inaugural President and CEO of One Mind at Work

RUTHERFORD, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–One Mind at Work (OMAW), a new nonprofit subsidiary of One Mind, has recruited Kathleen M. Pike, PhD, to serve as its first-ever President & CEO. Headquartered in California, One Mind at Work sits at the nexus of science and best practice and has a network of over 150 members and partners that is steadily growing in both the US and globally. At a time when workforce mental health is at an all-time low, One Mind at Work is committed to bringing rigorous science and expertise to aid business leaders as they steward thriving, high performing organizations that are also committed to enhancing workers’ mental health and cultivating a culture of wellbeing.

Dr. Pike joins One Mind at Work at a critical time. The organization is now a subsidiary of One Mind, the parent nonprofit organization. This evolution will help position One Mind at Work for expanded growth and impact specifically focused on the mental health of the global workforce, while continuing to support One Mind’s overall mission of accelerating brain health for all.

Dr. Pike has served as a Scientific Advisor for One Mind at Work since 2021 and has been a driving force in the development and launch of the Mental Health at Work Index. Built on a foundation of extensive research, the Mental Health at Work Index enables business leaders to make data-driven decisions about programs, practices and policies that impact workers’ mental health and overall organizational performance.

“Today’s leaders see the headlines documenting the urgent mental health needs of their workforce, and they recognize the outsized opportunity that their organizations can have on the health and well being of their workforce,” said Dr. Pike. “They are looking for data-driven and evidence-based solutions. I am grateful to the One Mind leadership for the opportunity to lead One Mind at Work, and I am excited to engage with our members and partners to help translate science into best practices that will drive improvements in the mental health of workers across the world.”

As a globally recognized mental health expert, Dr. Pike has led the work of the Columbia University Mental Health + Work Design Lab where she provides thought leadership, content expertise, scientific research, and strategic guidance on advancing mental health at work. As Founder and Director of the Columbia-World Health Organization Center for Global Mental Health, Dr. Pike worked with her team to contribute scientific analysis and reporting to the WHO Guidelines for Mental Health at Work, which were published in September 2022.

“With Dr. Pike at the helm, we are confident that One Mind at Work will expand its meaningful impact on workplace mental health, empowering employees to thrive in their industry and support their individual needs,” says One Mind president, Brandon Staglin. “I look forward to working with Dr. Pike to co-create innovations to improve mental health throughout our world.

Dr. Pike is a Professor of Psychology at Columbia University. She earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees at Johns Hopkins University and her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Yale University.

About One Mind at Work

One Mind at Work (OMAW) is a global coalition of organizations committed to the development and implementation of a gold standard for workplace mental health and well-being. With most of the world’s population spending one-third of their adult lives at work, employers have a tremendous opportunity to improve quality of life for all people and play a critical role in driving mental health solutions. Leaving mental health needs unaddressed has costly results like higher absenteeism, increased liability, and lost productivity. OMAW believes that a committed group of CEOs can transform the way we view and approach mental health, brain fitness, and well-being in the workplace.
