Former Director of IIM Ahmedabad Bakul Dholakia Honoured with Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award by Vice President

Former Director of IIM Ahmedabad and Padma Shri Bakul Dholakia has been conferred with Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award by Vice President Shri Jagdeep Dhankhar for his outstanding contribution in the field of Management. The award ceremony was held at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Conference Hall in the Vice Presidents House. The award presented by the Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management carries a cash prize of Rs. 5 lakh, a memento, and a citation.

After receiving the award Dr. Dholakia said, “I feel deeply humbled to receive this honourable Lal Bahadur Shastri National Excellence Award 2022, a big thanks to jury members. Shastriji was a great leader and a role model for the new generation. The foundation of management education is about creating values and values are created when the cost of bringing in people and resources is less than the benefits you get. Management is all about making a more productive, capable, and creative human being.”

In his welcome address Shri Anil Shastri, Chairman of LBSIM said, “The award honours each year a distinguished individual who has excelled in his chosen field.”

Dr. Bakul Dholakia was also the Director General of the International Management Institute, Delhi. Prior to joining IMI, he was the Director of the Adani Institute of Infrastructure Management & Gujarat Adani Institute of Medical Sciences, Bhuj. Dr. Dholakia is a Gold Medalist from Baroda University and holds a Doctorate in Economics. He has 47 years of professional experience including 33 years at IIM Ahmedabad.
