Batal Boys to Produce “Pickleballers” Competitive Reality Television Show

Ultimate amateur pickleball tournament to award $100,000 to winning team along with a minor league pickleball contract

LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Batal Boys, a Los Angeles based television production company, will produce a competitive reality television series featuring some of the country’s best amateur pickleball players along with professional pickleball coaches and a host of pickleball-enthusiast celebrities.

The show will be executive produced by Tarik Batal and produced by Anthony Lipe-Ladenheim and Greg Donis.

The show will give viewers an inside look into the fiercely competitive world of pickleball and the ever-growing community of professionals and amateurs who are passionate about the sport. Thousands of potential contestants will vie for 12 spots (six men and six women) on two teams. Four players on each team will be selected based on their skills and go on to the final pickleball match and a chance to win $100,000 and a minor league pickleball contract.

“Pickleball has an incredible number of colorful personalities that would make ‘Pickleballers’ not only exciting to watch, but a compelling and fun show as well,” said Tarik Batal. “This sport is gaining an incredible amount of momentum and the pickleball community is ripe for a reality show to introduce the sport to existing and new audiences.”

The two coaches will be Sam Querrey, a rising pickleball star and former tennis champion having played at Wimbledon, the Davis Cup and the Olympics, and Wes Burrows, a professional pickleball player in Major League Pickleball. “This show is about finding the next superstars in pickleball,” said Querrey.

John Isner, professional tennis player and owner of the MLP Dallas Pickleball Club, commented, “I am thrilled to participate and excited to help my dear friend Sam Querrey on this great athletic competition show.” Professional tennis player Jack Sock added, “Love the concept of the show and can’t wait to be there and see these contestants compete firsthand.”

Auditions will take place in Florida, Texas and California in late March to identify the initial 12 participants. The final pickleball battle will be in La Mesa, California, on June 15, where Major League Pickleball will hold its premiere league tournament. All the major professional teams will be competing for millions of dollars and “Pickleballer” contestants will have the opportunity to experience a pro tour.

Batal Boys is currently finalizing agreements with sponsors and distribution deals with media outlets.
