A webinar on “POSHAN Abhiyaan– Sahi Poshan Desh Roshan” was organised today by Regional Outreach Bureau (ROB) & Press Information Bureau (PIB), Chandigarh, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, Government of India. Ms. Sarita Godwani, Consultant, Social Welfare Department, UT Chandigarh and Ms. Saba Malik, Senior Dietician, General Hospital, Sonipat, Haryana participated as the guest speakers in the virtual meet.

Ms. Sarita Godwani shared her valuable experiences on implementation of POSHAN Abhiyaan. “The remarkable initiative of ‘Poshan Vatika’ amongst Anganwadi workers has further led to awareness generation about importance of balanced diet”, she said. Informing the participants further about these Poshan Vatikas, she said, “Anganwadi workers with best Poshan Vatika will also be awarded in this Poshan Maah.”

Ms. Saba Malik, Senior Dietician, General Hospital, Sonipat, Haryana threw light on the importance of a balanced diet, especially for pregnant women. She stressed on adequate maternal dietary protein intake and informed the participants about the need for a healthy diet to prevent anemia during pregnancy.

In his welcome address, Sh. Himanshu Pathak, Assistant Director, PIB, Chandigarh said that POSHAN Abhiyaan is Government of India’s flagship programme to improve nutritional outcomes for children, adolescent Girls, pregnant women and lactating mothers.

Ms. Sapna, Assistant Director, ROB Chandigarh moderated the session and Ms. Sangeeta Joshi, Assistant Director, ROB Chandigarh summarized and closed the webinar with a vote of thanks to the speakers and the participants present. Anganwadi workers and ICDS officers from the region and officials of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting from the region participated in the webinar.
