The New Subaru Crosstrek Limited Is Almost Everything You Hoped For

You get more power in the top trim 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Limited but it’s still missing one feature you want.

The new 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Limited gets the optional 2.5-liter engine with 30 more horsepower than last year’s model and it comes with almost everything that you want. The new model is better equipped to carry your gear, cargo, and equipment up the mountain with less effort than the underpowered 2.0-liter engine. But it’s missing a heated steering wheel customers have asked for.

We were surprised when Subaru Canada announced two of its newly refreshed 2021 Subaru Crosstrek models would come standard with a heated steering wheel. None of the U.S. models have the wanted feature and especially the top-trim Limited model, which we thought would have it.

The 2021 Crosstrek Limited comes standard with the all-weather package that comes with heated front seats, windshield, and exterior mirrors, but no heated steering wheel. Subaru of America does offer it on Crosstrek, but only on the Plug-In Hybrid model.

The top-trim 2021 Crosstrek Limited ($27,995) cabin comes with other upgrades like leather seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift lever handle, 6-way power driver’s seat, and high-grade multifunction display with color LCD.

Surprisingly, Subaru Canada offers a heated steering wheel as standard on two of its new 2021 Crosstrek models, the Touring and Limited trims. If customers in the U.S. want to keep your hands warm this winter you have to buy a Crosstrek Hybrid and spend $38,655 to get it.

The Crosstrek is the brand’s “go-anywhere” all-weather subcompact SUV and it’s the ideal vehicle for cold-weather climates with standard Symmetrical all-wheel-drive, 8.7-inches of ground clearance, and X-Mode. A younger demographic of customers with active lifestyles use it for off-pavement adventures and for winter sports.

We aren’t sure why Subaru of America doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel in the newly refreshed 2021 model. We reached out to Subaru and they confirmed the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport and Limited trims will not have a heated steering wheel for the 2021 model change. This would have been a welcome addition especially in the top-trim Limited.
