Samsung Research Institute, Noida (SRI-N), hosted the inaugural Academic Summit 1.0 in October, marking a transformative moment in interdisciplinary collaboration.

 

Bringing together top minds from industry and academia, this first-of-its-kind event highlighted the power of knowledge exchange and innovation to shape the future of education, research, and technological advancements in India.

 

The summit drew distinguished attendees, including directors, deans, and professors from prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) such as IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Kanpur, and IIT Ropar and members from Samsung headquarters. The gathering underscored the importance of fostering partnerships between academia and industry, with a focus on cutting-edge fields such as, Visual AI, Graph Neural Networks (GNN), Neuro-symbolic AI, and Health AI.

Among the notable speakers were Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, Director of IIT Ropar, and Prof. Tarun Gupta, Dean of IIT Kanpur, who emphasized the need for deeper engagement between academia and industry. Prof. Santosh Kumar Vipparthi shared research works on Deep Learning-based Burst Super Resolution, exploring how AI can improve imaging technologies.

Prof. Sayan Ranu presented on Graph Neural Networks and their applications for Samsung Electronics, a key innovation area for data processing.

Prof. Koteswar Rao Jerripothula delved into Dichotomous Segmentation via the aggregation of various foreground detection models, providing potential advancements in image analysis.

Prof. Tushar Sandhan showcased innovative approaches to portrait background generation with pose and light constraints, addressing visual enhancement.

Prof. Kshitij Jadhav discussed AI and machine learning’s role in revolutionizing healthcare, with a particular focus AI models high accuracy on low-labeled data.

Prof. Srikanta Bedathur presented on Multimodal and Neuro-Symbolic AI for Knowledge Graph Questioning Answering (KGQA).
