More than 3.9 lakh households completed 100 days of work under MGNREGA in April- June, 2021

22.78% increase in the comparison to April- June, 2020. State can provide additional mandays of work over and above of 100 days from its own resources

A total of 3,91,112 households have completed 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA) in the months of April- June, 2021, including Karnataka. In the State of Karnataka, 2372 households have completed 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA in the months of April- June, 2021.

A total of 3,18,532 households have completed 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (Mahatma Gandhi NREGA) in the months of April- June, 2020.

There is an increase in the number of households who have completed 100 days of work under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA between 2020 and 2021. In this regard the details are given below:

Mahatma Gandhi NREG Act, 2005 is to provide at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every rural household whose adult member volunteers to do unskilled manual work. State can provide additional mandays of work over and above of 100 days from its own resources. An additional 50 days of wage employment is provided over and above 100 days in the notified drought affected areas or natural calamity areas in the country on recommendation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. At present, there is no plan to increase days of work under Mahatma Gandhi NREGA.

This information was given by Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti in a written reply in Rajyasabha today.
