Development of Domestic Mining Sector

For the development of the domestic mining sector by adopting advance mining technology and to promote eco-friendly mining in vulnerable eco-sensitive zones in the country, provisions have been made in National Mineral Policy (NMP) 2019. Further, to ensure sustainable mining, Rule 35 of Mineral Conservation and Development Rules, 2017(amended from time to time), inter-alia, mandate that every holder of mining lease has to achieve at least three star ratings within stipulated time period of four years with effect from 27.02.2017 or four years from the date of commencement of mining operation failing which authorized officer of Indian Bureau of Mines (IBM) may suspend the mining operation.

The details of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the Government of India with different countries are provided in Annexure.

mineral development.

6. MOU signed on 29.03.2019 with the Plurinational State of Bolivia To promote the cooperation for the development of geological and mineral resources, promote mining investments and the

transfer of technology.

7. MOU signed on 25.01.2021with the Federative Republic of Brazil
  1. Promotion of investment and development in the area of mining activities; and
  2. Encouragement for the transfer of technology between the Participants in the areas of geology and mineral resources.
