Cuomo to resign as New York governor

(The Center Square) – New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that he will resign.

In an address to New Yorkers, the third-term Democrat said the resignation will be effective in 14 days.

The resignation comes in the wake of a series of scandals, including allegations that he sexually harassed female staffers.

Lt. Gov. Kathy Hochul, a fellow Democrat, will be sworn in as the state’s 57th governor following the resignation.
