Cracking the Power IB certification exam

Microsoft is transitioning away from tool-based certificates and toward role-based certifications, such as Data Analyst, Data Engineer, Data Scientist, Developer, and others. The Microsoft Data Analyst Associate Certification requires Analyzing Data with Microsoft Power BI (DA-100). The power bi certification cost of the exam is $165 USD. The validity of power bi certification has been shortened to one year as of June 2021. It can, however, be renewed for free online at Microsoft Learn. The exam assesses your ability to develop and build scalable data models, clean and transform data, and enable advanced analytic capabilities that deliver substantial business value via simple data visualizations.

Candidates taking the power bi certification exam should be well-versed in Microsoft Azure cloud principles. They should also be familiar with basic BI concepts, including reporting, dashboarding, and building measures and KPIs in Microsoft Power BI. They should even have a working knowledge of data preparation and cleansing. There are no requisites for taking this certification exam.

A candidate may take this exam no more than five times in a 12-month period. The candidate has time of 12 months from the date of their first attempt to retake the exam.

It is a 180-minute online exam. The exam has two sections: multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and case studies. In section 1, there are 45-50 multiple choice questions and 2-3 case studies with 4-5 questions each. The greatest potential total score is 1000, with 700 being the passing score. The result appears shortly after the exam is completed.

The exam is broken down into five sections in the power bi course:
Prepare the information (20–25%)
Visualize the information (20–25%).
Analyze the information (10–15%)
Deliverables (10–15%) must be deployed and maintained.
Here is a bit about power bi certification exam mark distribution in detail:
Prepare the information (20-25 percent):
You can expect questions on acquiring data from various datastores utilizing the Common Data Service (CDS) and parameters, profiling, cleansing, transforming, and loading the data from this module. Inconsistencies will be resolved, data shape modifications applied to table structures, queries combined, and user-friendly naming conventions applied to columns and queries.
Make a Data Model (25-30 percent):
This module’s questions will focus on designing and developing the data model, creating measures with DAX, and optimizing the data model’s performance.
Visualize the information (20-25 percent):
Questions focused on building reports, live dashboards, increasing usability, customizing navigation, Sync Slicers, and designing reports for mobile devices will be asked in this module.
Analyze the information (10-15 percent):
This module will have fewer questions and will focus on upgrading reports to reveal insights, doing advanced analysis by conducting Time Series analysis, using groupings and binnings, using AI insights, and so on.

Some tips to keep in mind:
The exam focuses mainly on utilizing Power BI to clean, transform, and prepare models.
You should also thoroughly prepare subjects on how to create visualizations that are appropriate for business requirements and how to deploy models.

Before the exam, take a practice test.
For the exam, you also need to have a good understanding of DAX.
You must upload images of the surroundings before beginning the exam. Prepare yourself for it.
The time allotted for the exam is more than adequate. So, take your time and read each question attentively, ensuring you don’t miss any important details.

Don’t be concerned if your DAX skills are lacking; not much advanced knowledge in the Microsoft power bi certification exam is evaluated.

Microsoft permits candidates to retake the exam up to five times within a year of their first try, so you can take it one at a time. Avoid taking numerous examinations at once so that you can focus on one at a time. As a result, you won’t have to take back-to-back examinations for recertification, and you’ll have more time to prepare.
After a section has been submitted, it cannot be changed. So, check your answers twice before submitting them.
For power bi certification, the best power bi training can be done through the official prep material provided by Microsoft. Make sure to not miss it, as that is the key to achieving a competitive and desirable score on this power bi certification exam.

Analyze data with Microsoft Power BI and earn a Microsoft Power BI Certification to become a data analyst.
