Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) has launched the Industrial Proficiency Aptitude Test for Engineers (iPATE) to develop and create a large pool of high-quality engineers from Tier I, II & III cities with reasonable industrial proficiency for the industry to recruit from.

In India, the underserved student masses, especially those that migrate from Tier II and III cities to Tier I cities in search of better job opportunities, face the struggle ever so often. Although they somehow secure decent jobs in other fields, the struggle to find their way into the corporate arena remains. Similarly, SMEs, on the other hand, in our country are usually not equipped with qualified technical evaluation teams to ensure effective hiring, which again acts as an impediment for deserving candidates to join the corporate engine.

This is where the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) comes into the picture. CII – iPATE to bridge the gap between engineering academia and the industry by standardizing its technical recruitment and protocol, thereby strengthening the overall engineering ecosystem.

The exam will be online having technical as well as nontechnical papers covering three sections –

  • Section I: Cognitive Abilities
  • Section II: Professional Abilities
  • Section III: Technical Abilities

CII – iPATE, a 3-hour Computer-based Exam, covers 100 questions having a total of 100 marks with a negative marking of 1/2 for each wrong answer. After the result of the exam, CII will be sharing scorecards of students to different industries, which will be calling candidates directly for interviews.
