CBI registers a case against a senior accounts officer for possession of alleged disproportionate assets, and conducts searches

The Central Bureau of Investigation has today conducted searches at the residential and office premises of a Senior Accounts Officer, working in the office of the Principal Accountant General (A & E), Imphal (Manipur) which led to recovery of cash of Rs. 5 lakh (approx); gold ornaments worth Rs. 15 lakh (approx) and other incriminating documents including properties/agricultural lands; investments in LIC; banks & other financial institutions etc.

 A case was registered against the Senior Accounts Officer on the allegations of possession of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs.54,52,269/- (approx). It was further alleged that the accused during the period 01.01.2010 to 31.10.2020, had acquired huge assets both movable and immovable in his name and in the name of his family members which were disproportionate to his known sources of income.

Investigation is continuing.
