The Redmi Note 3 was announced back in late November 2015. It is finally making its way to India after it was launched in China in January. Xiaomi even ran a pilot explorer programme for the phone in India.

The Redmi Note 3 is Xiaomi’s first all metal smartphone. It is a pretty chubby smartphone as it measures 8.65mm and weighs 164 grams. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 processor which is a hexa-core chipset. In China the phone is available in two variants; a 16GB model with 2GB RAM and a 32GB model with 3GB RAM.

The phone packs a 5.5-inch full HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. It is a dual-SIM 4G enabled smartphone. Notably, the phone packs a massive 4,000mAh battery which supports quick charging technology. Xiaomi claims that the phone can attain 50 per cent charge in 1 hour.

On the back, there’s also a 16-megapixel camera which has a phase detection autofocus system and has a two-tone flash system. The front of the phone houses 5-megapixel camera.

Like all Xiaomi devices, the Redmi Note 3 runs on Mi UI 7 which is based on Android Lollipop. Interestingly, the announcement of the Redmi Note 3 India launch comes days before the global announcement of the Mi 5 which Xiaomi is going to launch at the ongoing Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain. The Mi 5 is going to be its flagship phone.

The Redmi Note 3 will likely be replaced by the Redmi Note 2 which was marred by a patent issue between Ericsson and Xiaomi. The 3G version of the phone which was based on the MediaTek SoC was banned in India.
