Xiaomi launches Redmi 3s in India for Rs 6,999

Xiaomi announced its entry-level budget smartphone Redmi 2 a year ago in March. They followed it up with Redmi 2 Prime but it was not exactly a proper successor. Now, after a year, Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 3s as the successor to Redmi 2 in the sub-Rs 9,000 price segment that comes with upgrades and improvements in all area.

Redmi 3s comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display (1280 x 720 pixels) and is one of the cheapest smartphones with a fingerprint scanner. It is also one of the few budget devices to offer a full metal unibody design. The phone is 8.5mm slim and weighing 144 grams. Redmi 3s is also the first smartphone available in India with Qualcomm’s octa-core Snapdragon 430 processor. Other hardware specifications include 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, and a massive 4,100mAh battery. the software front, the phone run MiUI 7.3 based on Android 6.0 and comes preloaded with Amazon, Kindle, Flipkart, Facebook, WPS Office and Swiftkey.

It has a 13MP rear camera with f2.0 aperture with phase detection autofocus and is capable of full HD video recording. The front camera is a 5MP wide-angle unit with f2.2 aperture and can also record full HD video. There is hybrid SIM slot (optional nano SIM or microSD in the second slot), 4G, WiFi, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and IR blaster for universal remote control functionality.

Xiaomi also launched the Redmi 3s Prime version that comes with 3G RAM and 32GB storage. Rest of the specification and features are the same as Redmi 3s.

Redmi 3s Prime will go on sale on mi.com and Flipkart from 9th August 2016 for Rs 8,999 while the Redmi 3s will be available for Rs 6,999 from 16th August 2016.
