In a tweet, the company said, “An exciting announcement will happen tomorrow :) Always believe something wonderful is about to happen.” So far, the company has not dropped any hint what the announcement could be on Thursday.

The Chinese company can be expected to announce availability of the global stable build of its MIUI 7.1 custom Android ROM from Thursday, based on Android Lollipop. The MIUI 7.1 rollout arrived over two months after the MIUI 7 global stable build was released.

One of the possible Thursday announcements from Xiaomi India could be about the India launch of the Redmi 3. Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 3 smartphone priced at CNY 699 (approximately Rs. 7,000). To refresh, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 features a 5-inch HD (720×1280 pixels) display; an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor; 2GB LPDDR3 RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage; expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB); 4100mAh non-removable battery; MIUI 7; 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; 5-megapixel front-facing camera; dual-SIM, and 4G LTE connectivity (with support for LTE bands in India).

A recent report claimed that China’s Xiaomi, which had raised over $1 billion (roughly Rs. 6,321 crores) in a round of funding back in 2014, is now under pressure as it missed sales target in 2015. The Chinese company is said to be questioned about the $46 billion valuation due to missing its sales target last year.
