Second-gen Samsung Galaxy A5 and A7, to be released soon

Last year, after the Galaxy Alpha was introduced, Samsung presented a whole new line of handsets, the Galaxy A family, consisting in models like the Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7. All of them were received pretty well by the market, so the manufacturer decided that it’s time to start working on some updated versions.

A revamp of the Galaxy A line, scheduled for 2016?
According to Phone Arena, two of the handsets, Galaxy A5 and A7 will soon get some serious upgrades, while the A3 won’t be ignored either. Still, for the moment, let’s see what we know about the two handsets.

The second-gen Samsung Galaxy A5 should feature a 5.2″ display, with a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, while under the hood it will have an Exynos 7 chipset, with an octa-core CPU running at 1.6 GHz and 2 GB of RAM.

The storage capacity will count 16 GB, but users will have the possibility of expanding it, using a microSD card slot. As for the camera department, we’re expecting to see a 13 MP main camera, teaming up with a 5 MP front snapper.

The phone will be running Android 5.1.1 and feature a metal-clad body, just like its predecessor.

Metal all the way, which is excellent

Moving on, the new Galaxy A7 will sport a bigger display, measuring 5.5 inches, but with the same full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The chipset of choice will be a Snapdragon 615, with four cores running at 1.5 GHz, alongside 3 GB of RAM and 16 gigs of expandable storage.

We expect to see the same camera setup as on the Galaxy A5, the same operating system, Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and a metallic design, similar to Samsung’s latest models.

There aren’t any details about the launch date or the prices, but we expect to see an official announcement in the near future, most likely in January 2016.
