Meizu’s budget phone M2 to go on open sale on Tuesday

Chinese company Meizu on Monday announced the fourth open sale of the budget M2 phone — scheduled for Tuesday — on e-retail website Snapdeal. Having received a robust response from buyers during its first three open sales, Meizu is looking to cash in on the upcoming festival of Diwali by holding a fourth open sale of the M2 Tuesday, November 10 starting from 11 am. The Meizu M2 has been priced in India at Rs.6,999.

The Meizu M2 features a polycarbonate unibody with a magnesium-alloy frame. The M2 is available in a range of peppy colours like white, blue, grey and pink. The front of the phone houses Meizu’s mBack button, but unlike the MX5 it does not double up as a fingerprint sensor.

The M2 comes with a 5-inch HD IPS display with a 720×1280 pixels resolution and 294ppi pixel density with Dragon Trail Glass protection. It is powered by 1.3 GHz quad-core Mediatek MT6735 processor coupled with Mali-T720MP2 GPU and 2GB RAM. It comes with 16GB of inbuilt storage which is further expandable by up to 128GB via microSD card.

The dualSIM smartphone runs Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Flyme 4.5 UI and supports TD-LTE and FDD-LTE 4G. It sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus and LED flash. There’s also a 5-megapixel camera up-front. The M2 uses a 2,500 mAh battery which is non-removable.

The company recently launched the flagship Pro 5 smartphone in China. The Pro 5 is the company’s first phone in its new ‘Pro’ line up. It is expected to launch in India soon enough.

The Pro 5 comes with a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED 2.5D screen with a 1080×1920 pixels resolution and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protective covering on the front. It is powered by a Samsung’s flagship Exynos 7420 64-bit octa-core processor coupled with Mali T760 GPU.
